This has been not such a great past 24 hours. I am running on caffeine, nicotine and a frozen pizza. It's not good times, which means I should be writing a song, but I just don't have it in me right now. And I have to call the IRS and send a big ol' compilation of information to Wells Fargo... BAH. Crappy day and it hasn't even started yet.
So here's a funny picture:
Tonight I'm playing my first Monday night show at Applebee's. I'm looking forward it although I don't have much of a voice this morning. I sure hope that gets better as the day progresses. I've got some new songs in there that I haven't properly rehearsed yet, but we'll see how it goes.
Really need to cut an album. Would you buy my album?

Played a really kickin show at Friends Again last night. I honestly thought that show was gonna suck, but it turned out to be a decent crowd and a cool little club when it's full of people. I think we'll play there again.
Unfortunately I seem to have thrown my back out. And I gotta go teach lessons all day today. I'm really glad I decided not to take the Grapevine gig Mindy offered me last night. I sent her a very talented musician and friend of mine, David Price, so if you're out and about tonight, be sure to stop by Grapevine and check him out, put a few bones in his coffers. :)
So I took a Lortab, hopefully it'll be enough to dull the pain without totally frying my brain. I have a couple new students I'm meeting for the first time. It wouldn't do to drool on myself and pass out during that meeting. My other students probably wouldn't mind so much as they know me by now.
Alright, time to grab this bull by the horns.
Wow. Eric Hutchens walked into the Doo Wop Shop yesterday and made me the proud new owner of one of his custom-built Cigar Box Guitars! :0 )I'm like a kid on Christmas with this thing. And I've also discovered that everything you play on a CBG sounds vaguely like Jimmy Page. (I think it has something to do with the open-G tuning, but whatever. That's COOL.)
If you want one of these babies or a custom built electric, acoustic or even mandolin, contact Eric:

He also does excellent repairs and is my go-to guy for all of my guitars now. He's done several repairs for me and made a guitar that's been unplayable for 4 years sound better than it ever has. The guy's a genius.
I'm going to post some pictures but that means I gotta take my time on today's blog. As I was lining up the last photo on my phone, the battery died. Guess I forgot to put it on the charger last night. Whoops.
That's actually okay though because I was reading some charts [...]
